Bio:
The Chroma Harp Duo was formed when Lucy and Becki McIlroy met at the Royal Northern College of Music whilst pursuing their postgraduate studies. They were finalists in the Wales International Harp Festival and have been awarded first prize in the London Camac Harp Ensemble Competition as well as the UK Harp Association’s prize for the best performance of a British work.
Both harpists are passionate about contemporary music and developing new repertoire for the harp duo. They recently gave the European premiere of Scorpions by Paul Patterson and are always interested in working with composers on new works for the ensemble.
As a duo, they regularly give recitals for music societies throughout the UK and have performed at The Bridgewater Hall, Leeds International Concert Season and Goosfest Arts and Music Festival as well as recently being invited to give a recital at Craxton Studios for the UK Harp Association. Both harpists are passionate about outreach work and in 2019 they were accepted onto Yehudi Menuhin’s prestigious ‘Live Music Now!’ scheme performing in care homes, hospitals, and a range of community and healthcare settings.
