New Groups for Young People and Families

While Beth who volunteers her time to run Art Play is busy running the Saturday Club for Andover College and CAS we are having a break from Saturday Art Play.  However, we are not cutting down the sessions we run to empower families to get creative.

Adding to our regular Thursday group, Creative Youth for 11 – 16 year olds, we also have three new groups starting in March.

Every Monday from the 4th March we are running Creative Kids for kids from birth to ten years of age.  This is a space for younger children to engage in art play, watch short film, build dens, make friends, learn artistic skills and grow in confidence with their care givers.

On alternate Tuesday afternoons from 5th March we begin our Home Ed Into Film Club where young people 12+ will come together to watch films together, to learn about film making, film theory and film criticism, with other opportunities available to them through Into Film

On the first and third Wednesdays of the month we will be running a Home Ed All Age Lego Club at the Titchfield Parish Rooms.  This is a chance for children of all ages who are home educated to come together to learn and play through creating together with other children and their families.

Kids Father Christmas Puppet Workshop and other Creative Fun

Join us the weekend before Christmas for a great creative family session!  From 10:30 -2:30 we will be running a bookable session where families can come and get thoroughly festive together.

Book an hour-long session where your children can get Christmas creative!  We will have a range of activities on hand from making a Father Christmas hand-puppet (suitable from 6 up if sewing and from 3 if gluing with help from caregivers), to making your own Christmas giftbag, cracker making, festive bookmarks, tree decoration, giftwrap printing and card making.

We will also have festive music and festive treats!

Screenprint a Large Christmas Gift Sack

Join us to make an extremely special and unique Christmas/gift sack for your favourite person in the festive workshop.

In this three hour session, from 1-4pm, a high-quality gift sack will be provided and you will be taught a screenprinting technique to produce something very special and original. These will be heat set for long-lasting use and will be able to be collected the following week (limited to 6).

By using screenprinting, unlike sacks featuring vinyl lettering, you are producing something that cannot peel off and once it is heat set it is washable at 40 degrees many times.

You will have the opportunity to learn some basic embroidery to adorn your rather wonderful personalised sack and have materials provided to do this if you know how to embroider already.

Itinerary:

We will start by looking at the three main methods of screenprint and you will be shown how you can do small-scale screenprinting at home cheaply.  Using our larger frames you will get used to handling the equipment and learning how to produce prints.  Once comfortable with the equipment you will start to design your print and recreate it for the screen.

Once happy you will make a test print and then reproduce your screenprint on your high-quality sack.  This will be left to dry and then heat set for you so that you can return to collect it the following Sunday or at another time by appointment.

Mini Monets Coming Soon

Have children between 6 months and five years and want to get creative with them but don’t want your house covered in paint, glitter, glue and more arty loveliness?  Considering joining a baby creative group but don’t want to spend your time making the item for your child rather than them being able to fully engage?  Want to join a new Fareham based group run by two local mums who just so happen to be professional artists and workshop facilitators working with major galleries and arts organisations?

Then look no further!!

“Mini Monets” is a new artist-led not for profit accessible art group where babies from 6 months up until 5 can collaborate and have creative fun with each other and their care givers!  Through the sessions we will introduce babies and young children to brilliant artists through characters from well-known books and popular culture and create large scale collaborative art pieces through play and safe materials.

As parents of young children ourselves it is important to us that this group is suitable for all small children irrespective of whether they’re a crawler or walker.  Because of this these sessions will have sensory aspects, storytime, play time and more.

Our sessions will be held on a Thursday between 10:30am and midday and will cost £6.50 a session with a half-term payable in advance. For the half term leading up to the festive break this will be £39 (six sessions).  If siblings attend this will be reduced to £70 for both of them, a saving of £9 (sadly we cannot offer more of a discount due to the costs of our materials not decreasing with numbers).  If a walking child attends then a sibling babe in arms will be free.
